Malú  Yoga

About Malú..

My first experience with yoga was in 1995...it was a Kripalu class and instantly I felt I had found my home. I was a fitness/aerobics instructor at the time and loved hi intensity, fast moving workouts. I wasn’t expecting to like yoga but in one single moment half way through that first class, something clicked and I knew I was on a new path.  Not only did it feel good in my body but the inner awareness put me in touch with myself in a way I had never experienced. I felt deeply connected, aware of every sensation and fully alive. As a Kripalu teacher I hope to create the opportunity for students to be in spacious, open awareness with themselves, aware of their body, their breath, their mind and the wholeness of who they are. I believe that deep listening to the wise intelligence of our body, mind and heart puts us in relationship with who we truly are. It’s there where we can find balance, healing , strength and peace. It is the path of the heart.

Over the years, I’ve been drawn to several traditions of yoga and conscious movement. Today I weave them together with the Kripalu tradition to create an experience of yoga that is heart centered, intuitive, creative, and curious. I use the tools of yoga, breath, meditation, mantra, embodied movement, and hands on healing to guide you toward inner connection and the deep peace that lives within you.

Welcome!

Thanks for clicking in. I’m so glad you did.

Whether you’re considering yoga for the first time , stepping back in, or looking for a fresh perspective, a warm welcome to you.

The yoga classes and healing services I offer are deeply heart centered and focused on health of the whole you. That includes your body, mind, and heart. They’re inspired by the practice of presence, and witnessing what’s arising  from moment to moment, then responding in a supportive way. Cultivating moment to moment awareness allows you the opportunity to respond purposefully in your everyday life, not just on the mat, and with all your life circumstances and unexpected challenges. Yoga is a life skill that allows you to respond to all that comes to you in a way that’s grounded and responsive rather than reactive and habitual. With practice, you may find you’re able to meet whatever’s happening now from a place of greater peace and stability.

Many students come to yoga for the physical benefits. I did at first. They’re seeking flexibility, strength, even pain relief. But eventually, they find much more. Along with all the outer benefits comes the deeper, inner aspects of yoga which have the potential to transform your life...that’s where it gets really exciting. In those inner benefits you’ll find lasting change and touch into deep, unshakeable peace.  Let’s Practice. Presence. for Peace.

Deep peace to you,

Malú

KIND WORDS ~

I love Malu's yoga classes. She has a very soothing voice and she exudes such great energy. She leads us in a flow of poses that is always smooth and well thought out. Each class is very different and she is great at giving you images which help you get into the pose....and the absolute best shavasana with a wonderful head massage. It is absolute heaven... -Cathy S.

“Beautiful Instructor, Beautiful Instructing. Malu is an inspirational teacher, always calm and gentle, always knowledgeable and intuitive. Malu sets the tone of the class with an inspirational thought or a reading which is always just the thing I was searching for!  I highly recommend practicing yoga with Malu, she will guide your movements, your breath and your spirit.  -Sandy O.

A real pleasure. When you enter Malu's practice you get an immediate feeling of sincere welcome and caring that she maintains throughout the session whether the class size is small or large. I've come into her class at times in physical or emotional unease and have always left feeling calmer, more comfortable and at ease. - Margaret H.

My favorite teacher. I would call Malu Doherty a "heart centered" teacher. She has such caring for her students and creates a warm, safe and friendly atmosphere. If I am unable to participate in a posture due to an injury, she can always suggest a substitute. I am always reminded to check in with my body. I leave feeling great. Highly recommended.  - Anonymous, Southboro, Ma
